Nearly all of Orange County’s automakers reported an uptick in sales for May while year-to-date sales remain mixed.
Hyundai Motor America in Fountain Valley sold 66,056 units, an 11.5% increase year-over-year. Its sales for the year have slowed 6.7%. The automaker’s Genesis brand saw its sales drop by 38.6% for the month, 22% for the year.
Cypress-based Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. kept the sales engine revving, double-digit growth for the month to 31.7% with 12,416 units. Year-to-date sales were 56,178 units, a 19.7% increase.
Mazda North America Operations posted a monthly increase of 15.1% and the Irvine-based company is enjoying a strong 2018, up 19.7% for the year.
Kia Motors America in Irvine inched up 1.6% for the month, a slight decline for the year of 1.1%.
