Principals of Ferrari and Maserati of Newport Beach and Lamborghini Newport Beach plan to open McLaren Newport Beach on Pacific Coast Highway in the summer.
British luxury sports car maker McLaren Automotive Ltd. chose the dealer group as one of 10 North American dealers to launch its new MP4-12C model, which will sell for $229,000.
“We are very excited and honored to be selected as one of only 10 dealers to represent McLaren in North America,” said Pietro Frigerio, operating partner for McLaren Newport Beach.
In addition to the Newport Beach, McLaren Automotive on Thursday announced a dealership in Philadelphia.
Other McLaren dealers opening this summer include McLaren Beverly Hills, McLaren Chicago and McLaren Dallas.
McLaren expects North American dealers to account for 30% of its first-year sales, pegged at 1,000 vehicles. McLaren expects to have 35 dealers in all.
The cars are being made in England.
The MP4-12C is expected to debut in North America at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August.
