Fisker Changes Name to Karma

The former Fisker Automotive and Technology Group is now Karma Automotive.

Karma is the name of the hybrid-electric car the Costa Mesa-based automobile manufacturer plans to relaunch.

The company said its new name is “relevant to both the old and new brands and [speaks to] the principle of cause and effect, where your actions create your future. Acting with intention is what the new Karma represents.”

Fisker was bought out of bankruptcy last year for $149 million by China-based auto parts maker Wanziang Group.

The company said in June it would build the Karma in a new 556,000-square-foot facility in Moreno Valley.

The new name comes with new trademarks, website, and social media identities, the company said.
