AutoNation Opens Redesigned Porsche Newport Beach

AutoNation Inc. stepped up its game at Porsche Newport Beach this year.

The automotive retailer has redeveloped the former single-story facility spanning 44,350 square feet into a new two-story, 60,000-square-foot dealership with the luxury consumer top of mind.

The location now has expanded showrooms, a new lounge area and a large window that looks into the workshop. The new building design includes a curved steel, metal and glass façade and advanced service areas for the vehicles.

Many of the new elements match Porsche’s Gen 5 design and building type, first introduced as a prototype in 2019 and since executed worldwide.

“We’re proud to introduce a facility that embodies the innovation and luxury of Porsche, and we look forward to sharing it with the wider Orange County and Los Angeles community for years to come,” General Manager Tim Tauber said.

The dealership plans to host curated events and workshops for the local community. AutoNation also took the opportunity to incorporate sustainability measures such as solar photovoltaic panels that convert light into electricity.

Porsche Newport Beach is part of AutoNation’s Newport Auto Center, which also includes its neighbor Bentley Newport Beach. The two dealerships, combined, generated sales volume of $171 million for 12 months ended June 30.

It ranks No. 9 on the Business Journal’s annual list of OC Dealers.

The new Porsche facility re-opened to the public in June, along with an attached three-level parking structure that counts over 290 parking spaces.

There are also themed model exhibits that showcase Porsche vehicles ranging from older, classic iterations to the latest innovations.

“With its modern design, expanded capacity, and state-of-the-art amenities, Porsche Newport Beach represents AutoNation’s ongoing investment in delivering world-class experiences across all of our stores,” AutoNation Chief Executive Mike Manley said.
