Auto Club of SoCal to Provide $59M in Insurance Policy Refunds

The Automobile Club of Southern California said Monday it plans to return some $59 million in insurance premium refunds to insurance policyholders amid the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The returns are on top of nearly $92 million in refunds provided in May and will bring the total refunds to $151 million.

Fewer claims and less driving on account of COVID-19 were cited as the reasons for the latest returns by the organization.

The Automobile Club, which has administrative offices in Costa Mesa, said it expects the latest refunds for members to be mailed in August.

The refunds apply to insurance policies in effect from May 16 through July 31 of this year and is equivalent to 10% of what policyholders paid during that timeframe.
