On the Move: Sukut Construction Appoints New Vice Presidents of Energy and Alternative Delivery Markets

Construction

Sukut Construction, one of the nation’s leading heavy civil contractors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lawrence Damore P.E. as vice president of alternative delivery and the promotion of Ryan Prokop to vice president of energy. These leadership moves reflect Sukut’s continued investment in project expertise, operational strength, and long-term market growth across its alternative delivery and energy sectors.

Lawrence Damore P.E. brings over three decades of California construction experience to his newly appointed role. He first worked with Sukut in the mid-1990s as part of a joint venture team on the Eastern Transportation Corridor. Since then, Damore has led numerous high-profile public works efforts, including the reconstruction of Interstate 5 through Orange, the construction of Routes 210 and 905, the award-winning Gold Line Bridge in Arcadia, and the early phases of the Sixth Street Viaduct in Los Angeles.

Damore joined Sukut in the mid-2000s as a project manager and led the successful delivery of the Pelican Hill Resort infrastructure project in Newport Beach. After rejoining the company in 2021 as vice president of public works, he transitioned into his current role. As vice president of alternative delivery, Damore now oversees the procurement and construction of projects delivered through design-build, CMGC, and other collaborative methods for both public and private clients. A former U.S. Army engineer officer, Damore is respected for his ability to lead complex initiatives and develop high-performing teams.

In his role as vice president of energy, Ryan Prokop leads the full pre-construction process, from bidding and estimating to contract negotiations. He also drives business development, oversees operations, and helps define the long-term direction of Sukut’s rapidly growing energy division.

Prokop brings over 20 years of industry experience, having started his career as an intern and quickly risen through the ranks. He gained practical expertise as a project engineer and project manager, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure and highway projects. Since joining Sukut in 2015 as a project manager in the public works division, he has played a key role in shaping the company’s approach to energy work. His leadership in developing the division’s estimating processes significantly contributed to the group’s success, leading to his promotion to lead estimator and ultimately to his current role as vice president.

Both leaders reflect Sukut’s strong culture of developing talent from within and positioning experienced professionals in strategic roles. Lawrence Damore and Ryan Prokop are recognized for their leadership, technical expertise, and ability to deliver value throughout every phase of a project.
