NHHA proudly welcomes Dr. Clayton Chau as Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to revolutionize healthcare and housing for vulnerable populations.
As former Health Care Agency Director and County Health Officer of Orange County, Dr. Chau was instrumental during the COVID-19 pandemic, championing mega testing and vaccination sites and making strides in population health, health equity and suicide prevention. Dr. Chau was named Orange County Medical Association’s 2021 Physician of the Year, featured in documentaries, and received global recognition for his expertise in healthcare integration, system reform, and mental health policy.
NHHA CEO Paul Leon initiated his partnership with Dr. Chau over two decades ago to address the needs of people experiencing homelessness. Mr. Leon, then a critical care nurse, and Dr. Chau, a psychiatrist for the County of Orange, pioneered Orange County’s inaugural Street Medicine team.
Dr. Chau joins NHHA at a critical juncture, leveraging his extensive experience and visionary leadership style to guide the organization’s initiatives on a national scale. NHHA, along with Dr. Chau, will redefine the landscape of healthcare and housing with a holistic approach they believe is key to ensuring each individual receives the comprehensive support they need.
