AVIATION

Airshow Inc., Tustin, appointed Victoria Bock product director of commercial airline systems, Jana O’Guin product director of corporate aviation systems, and Chris Merry product director of communications systems. In customer service, Bob Hopkins has been appointed vice president, and Paul Sapp senior director of engineering.


BANKING

Sunwest Bank, Tustin, hired Michael Schlepphorst as vice president and business lending officer. Schlepphorst has more than 10 years of experience in banking. Schlepphorst will be responsible for credit underwriting for the commercial banking group and underwriting functions of the SBA loans.

Connie L. Kelly joined Fidelity Federal Bank of Irvine as senior income property loan officer. Kelly, a 20-year industry veteran, will be responsible for originating loans on apartment, office and industrial properties.


BUSINESS SERVICES

nFusion appointed Grant Johnson senior vice president and general manager of its Irvine office. Before joining nFusion, Johnson was senior vice president of marketing for Aliso Viejo-based Ethentica Inc.

Tax & Financial Group of Newport Beach added four associates. Wen-Lin Wu was hired as financial consultant. Before joining the company, Wu was manager of financial services for Prudential Insurance. She is also a member of the Orange County Chamber of Chinese-Americans. Also hired as a financial consultant for Tax & Financial Group was Lisa Ung, who was a customer service representative with Bank of America. Ung is involved in the Newport Junior Chamber of Commerce. Juan Rosario was appointed associate after serving as financial analyst with Global Frontier Group. The company also named Judy Cruz as associate. Cruz comes from Downey Savings & Loan, where she worked as an account representative.


CONSTRUCTION

Jack Woods was named superintendent at Pepper Construction of Irvine. Woods brings knowledge in the healthcare industry, HVAC and mechanical projects, tenant improvement, civil engineering and high-rise buildings.

McCarthy of Newport Beach promoted Sarah Creighton to project manager. Creighton has worked for McCarthy for the last seven years, holding positions as project engineer, senior project engineer, and assistant project manager. Creighton graduated from CSU Sacramento, and was the only woman in her class to graduate with a degree in construction management.


EDUCATION

Concordia University, Irvine, appointed Bruce Matthias director of special gifts and grants. Before this position, Matthias was on the staff of Rep. William Dannemeyer and Assemblyman John Lewis. Matthias also managed marketing activities for Santa Anita Park, Hyundai Motor America and Getty Oil Co.


ENGINEERING

Peter Skopek joined Irvine-based T.E.L.A. as principal engineer. Skopek brings 12 years of technical expertise to the firm and will be responsible for managing geo-technical engineering projects and staff. Before joining the company, Skopek was principal engineer for AMEC Earth and Environmen-tal Inc. of Anaheim.


GOVERNMENT

Stephen G. Badum accepted the position of public works director for Newport Beach. For the past seven years, Badum has been the director of public works and the city engineer for Seal Beach. Badum will replace Don Webb, who is retiring.

Also in Newport Beach, Gail McElroy was recruited for the new position of public information officer. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing communications program for the city. McElroy has more than 16 years of professional experience in communications. Her experience includes positions such as senior administrator and part-time instructor for the California Community College System, editor in the corporate communications department for CIGNA Healthplans and development director for the United Way.

Brian H. Yuen was appointed deputy commissioner of the state Department of Financial Institutions. He will oversee the division of examinations for the Southern California region. Yuen has been an assistant deputy commissioner in the San Francisco regional office since 1991.


HEALTHCARE

SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc., Aliso Viejo, named Stephen J. Baker executive vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining SafeGuard, Baker was chief operating officer and chief information officer for Novaeon Inc.

Irvine-based DentiCare/AVP appointed Jerry Nosewicz vice president of sales and marketing. Nosewicz will be responsible for growing the company’s membership and the development of new customer service programs.

PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., Santa Ana, named Judy Ehrenreich senior vice president of human resources. Ehrenreich comes to PacifiCare with more than 20 years of human resources management experience, including positions with McGraw Edison Corp., Columbia Savings & Loan and First Interstate Bancorp.

The American Heart Association has announced its 2001-2002 Chairman’s Council. They are Peter Bastone of Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, Thomas Cesario, M.D., of UC Irvine, Bob Grant of Deloitte & Touche, Frank Greinke of Southern Counties Oil Co., Doug Harrington of Chromavision Medical Systems, James LeSieur III of Sunwest Bank, Michael Mussallem of Edwards Lifesciences Corp., Jack Norberg of Standard Investment Chartered Inc., Tim Smith of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, Walter Straub of Rainbow Technologies, and Tom Tucker of Jenstar Capital.


HUMAN RESOURCES

William T. McCarthy joined Exult Inc., Irvine, as senior vice president of third-party operations. Prior to joining Exult, McCarthy was North American president and CEO of IMRglobal.
