The Fabless Semiconductor Association named Irvine-based Broadcom Corp. Most Respected Public Fabless Company for the fourth time in the past seven years.

CE News Magazine’s list of the top 50 Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For ranked Fuscoe Engineering in Irvine as No. 8. Fuscoe’s benefits packages, profit sharing plan and teamwork mentality were factors in its placement.

Carey Cullinane was inducted into the American College of Surgeons association. Cullinane is recognized as one of the first surgeons formally trained in cancer genetics. She heads the genetics service division at Breastlink Medical Group in Fountain Valley where she identifies, counsels and manages families at high risk of developing breast and other cancers.

Robert Kinsler was honored as Employee of the Year at Orange County Employees Retirement System where he is public relations analyst and director of its communications program. The organization provides retirement benefits for Orange County employees and other special districts that are members.

Western Roofing Systems in Anaheim re-roofed more homes and businesses with metal roofs than any pure roofing contractor in the U.S. in 2003, according to trade publication Metal Construction News. Western was the fourth-largest metal roofer by volume in the U.S. and the No. 1 volume metal roofer in California, according to the publication.

The National Association for Women Business Owners’ OC chapter and Farmers & Merchants Bank honored the following women at its Ninth Annual Remarkable Women Awards Luncheon: Harriett M. Wieder, former county supervisor and current president of Linkage in Huntington Beach; Linda Hawkins, president of Winkelmann Realty in Fullerton; Hilary Kaye, president of Hilary Kaye Association Inc. in Tustin; Valinda Martin, owner of Valinda’s Art for the Soul galleries in Balboa Island and Laguna Beach; Susan VerBurg, CEO of Merlex Stucco in Orange; and Alice Lei of Nightingale Technologies in Huntington Beach.

Newport Beach-resident Judy Hay was named the 2004 Volunteer of the Year by the Women’s Opportunities Center at University of California, Irvine extension. Hay has volunteered at the center since 1987 as instructor, instructor recruiter and manager at its career management workshops. She also works part time in career counseling for Families Forward and Executive Career Services, both in Irvine.

Santa Ana-based Sukut Construction Inc. honored Mimi McLay with a $10,000 reward for her perfect safety record, as part of its zero-accident safety program. McLay joined Sukut in 2003 and is a grade checker.

Stan Mullin, senior vice president at the Newport Beach office of Grubb & Ellis Co., was named president-elect of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. He served as national vice president of the society in 2004. The society is an international group based in Washington, D.C.

Fountain Valley-based Kingston Technology Co., a maker of memory products, earned a top-10 position in the Smartest Companies in America section in the book “What’s Your Corporate IQ?: How the Smartest Companies Learn, Transform and Lead.” The book was written by Jim Underwood.

Erin Devore of Aussie Pet Mobile South Orange County was honored with the Groomer of the Year Award. She was the top national groomer for Aussie Pet Mobile, a national mobile pet grooming franchise.

Cary K. Hyden, a partner in the Costa Mesa office of Latham & Watkins LLP, was nominated to the BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms 2005. Hyden’s practice focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate and securities matters. BTI Consulting Group is a Boston-based research, analysis and benchmarking consultant.

The Orange County chapter of California Staffing Professionals announced the accreditation of five recruiters who passed the California Accredited Consultant Examination last year: Kendall Calver of Volt Services Group in Costa Mesa; Teresa Canales, Paula Frontroy and Staci Morrow of Sage Employment Consultants Inc. in Fullerton; and Michelle Tassinari of Synergy Management Solutions in Irvine.

The Pollstar Concert Industry Awards nominated Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim for Arena of the Year for the seventh time since 1994. The arena also was honored by Billboard magazine, which ranked it fourth in gross ticket sales among arenas in the world with more than 15,000 seats. The Pond is owned by the city of Anaheim and managed by Anaheim Arena Management LLC.

Huntington Beach-resident Nicole Carrow was named December Employee of the Month for the Orange County Water District. Carrow has been with the district for more than two years. She presently is a senior human resources assistant.
