Three out of four largest Orange County-based automakers beat the national sales pace for new vehicles in July, according to New Jersey-based market researcher Autodata Corp.
U.S. auto sales declined 7% year-over-year, adding 1.41 million cars and light trucks, and are on track to reach 16.5 million for the year. Dealers have sold 9.86 million vehicles this year, a 2.9% dip compared with the first seven months of 2016.
On the local front, the new vehicle market declined 3.1% in the first half of the year, according to Orange County Auto Outlook, a report published by Auto Outlook Inc. on behalf of the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association in Newport Beach.
Orange County’s 122 franchised auto dealers sold 95,173 vehicles through June, and are on track to sell 186,750 for the year.
