Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was up 0.2% to 2,113.59 in midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.4% to 18,197.11 and the Nasdaq was flat at 4,962.31.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond declined 3.1% to 2%

The price of gold fell 0.2% to $1,198.

HOMEBUILDING

Shares of local homebuilders were up today on positive quarterly reports from Horsham, Penn.-based Toll Brothers Inc. and Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Meritage Homes Corp., two national homebuilders.

Irvine-based Tri Pointe Homes Inc. was up 2.8% to $15.96 and a $2.6 billion market cap. Irvine-based Standard Pacific Corp. was up 3.2% to $8.73 and a 2.4 billion market cap. Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes was up 1.2% to $23.50 and a $734 million market cap. Credit Suisse raised its price target on William Lyon Homes from $22 to $24 with an “outperform” rating.
