New Managing Editor, Reporter Join Staff

The Orange County Business Journal has added two newspaper veterans to its editorial staff.

Hannah Mitchell is the Business Journal’s new managing editor. She will oversee our weekly Special Reports and assist on our weekly print edition as well our digital coverage at ocbj.com, where readers can read stories daily and sign up for email updates.

Mitchell arrives from the Los Angeles Daily Journal, where she served as an associate editor and led a team of reporters covering various aspects of the legal industry.

Mitchell previously was a reporter for The Charlotte Observer, where she wrote a weekly business column, among other duties. She counts prior experience at the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times and has edited stories that appeared in The Atlantic and Los Angeles Times Magazine.

Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of North Carolina and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.

“We are very excited to bring a journalist of Mitchell’s caliber aboard and look forward to her talents adding to our efforts toward constant improvement,” said Business Journal Editor Jerry Sullivan.

Mitchell can be reached at (949) 833-8373, ext. 254, or mitchell@ocbj.com.

DiMartino

Mediha DiMartino has joined the Business Journal to cover marketing and media. She’ll also cover auto dealers, education, government and nonprofits.

DiMartino arrives from the Southern California office of Skanska USA Civil, a $1.6 billion unit of Sweden-based civil engineering company Skanska, where she was a technical writer.

Prior to Skanska, she spent nearly 10 years with the Los Angeles Newspaper Group/Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, where she was a general assignment and multimedia reporter.

DiMartino covered breaking news and feature stories on subjects ranging from business to politics and education.

Mediha started her career as a photojournalist for the Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa, where she spent two years.

She is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and photojournalism.

“DiMartino is a great addition as we grow our editorial staff, and our readers can expect the Business Journal’s coverage of marketers, advertising agencies, and media enterprises to reflect her skills and our commitment to increasing our focus on those and others areas she will cover,” Sullivan said.

DiMartino can be reached at (949) 833-8373, ext. 224, or dimartino@ocbj.com.
