Costa Mesa-based Girls Inc. of Orange County raised $205,000 at its annual fundraising luncheon at the Westin South Coast Plaza.
Girls Inc. offers educational programs for girls, particularly in science, technology, engineering and math.
Mary Niven, vice president of guest services at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and vice president of Disney California Adventure Park, was among some of the speakers. Maj. Robyn Mestemacher, a Marines Expeditionary Force sexual-assault response coordinator at Camp Pendleton, also spoke.
Fundraiser sponsors included Andy and Pam Policano, Automatic Data Processing Inc., Decision Toolbox and Disneyland Resort, among several others.
Banners Benefit
Lake Forest-based American Heroes Tribute raised nearly $20,000 at its second annual Wine Tasting Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser at Iva Lee’s in San Clemente.
The money will be used to produce banners to honor soldiers who died in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
“The banners are provided to qualified public and private events to display to keep the fallen heroes in the public eye,” said Jon Martin, president of the nonprofit. “Remembrance is the greatest tribute we can pay to those heroes who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”

Gen. J.K. Davis, a former assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, and his wife, Jane, were among the attendees.
First Marine Regiment Sgt. Maj. Jim Cully was the guest of honor at the event, which he attended with his wife, First Sgt. Kandaha Cully.
Scholarships Fundraiser
Irvine-based Association for Women in Technology’s 11th annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser at Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa raised $5,000.
The organization—which aims to boost the number of women in tech careers—helps women who are studying technology at Southern California’s colleges and vocational schools.
This year’s scholarships, totaling $12,500, were awarded to Elizabeth Ramsay, California State University, Monterey Bay; Laura Trejo, Santiago Canyon College; Lucy Perkins, University of California, Irvine; Kylie Nicholson, University of Southern California; and Taylor Johnson, Seattle Pacific University.
Supporters and organizers of the event included: Carmella Cassetta, chief information officer of Corinthian Colleges Inc.; Dawn Trautman, senior vice president of IT and strategic planning for Pacific Life Insurance Co.; Geraldine Ramezani, chief technology officer for Toyota Financial Services; Jeanette Sanchez, vice president of IT for CareFusion Corp.; Julie Sokol, senior vice president of IT for Irvine Company; and Renee Bergeron, vice president of managed services and cloud computing for Ingram Micro Inc.

Gone Fishing
Fish for Life and Senior Wish recently teamed up to give local veterans of World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War a free day of fishing at Dana Wharf in Dana Point.
Each vet was honored for their service, and then they boarded the Dana Pride for a fishing excursion.

Newport Beach-based Rally 4 Charities will hold its inaugural gala Nov. 1 at The Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach.
The Charity Car Rally & Awards Gala will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Orange County.
The motorsports charity event includes a car rally that starts at the Tustin-based Marconi Automotive Museum. Events hosted at the automotive events venue help raise funds for the Marconi Automotive Museum’s nonprofit, the Foundation for Kids.
