Yu Joins Business Journal to Cover Finance, Professions, Manufacturing

Jane Yu has joined the Orange County Business Journal and will cover finance, professional firms and manufacturers.

Yu recently graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern Uni-versity with a master’s degree and concentration in business reporting.

She contributed to the Medill News Service as the banking and finance reporter, covering Chi-cago-based financial in-stitutions. Her stories have appeared in the Medill Money Mavens, a financial news blog, local newspapers such as Small Business Chicago, and Investor’s Business Daily, a national publication based in Los Angeles.

Yu earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of California, Los Angeles.

She later worked as a consultant for Seoul, South Korea-based education services provi-der PlanUs, and as a marketing assistant for the Korea Daily in Los Angeles.

She also has worked as a freelance translator for government agencies in Korea, gaming companies and comic book publishers.

Yu was born in Seoul and grew up in La Mirada.

She recently moved to Costa Mesa.

“It’s good to be home,” Yu said. “I look forward to covering the dynamic marketplace of Orange County.”

In her spare time, she likes baking, playing jazz piano and composing.
