ARCHITECTURE

Irvine-based Ware Malcomb promoted Radwan Madani to job captain in the commercial department. Madani has been with the architecture company since 2001.

Thomas P. Cox: Architects Inc. in Irvine added Jorden Segraves as job captain, Peter Brauers as autocad drafter to the project team and Shienny Sutano as designer.

David Obitz was named a principal of KTGY Group Inc., an Irvine residential architecture and planning company.

CONSTRUCTION

Roel Construction Co. promoted Pete Sara, vice president of automotive, to senior vice president. Sara has worked with Roel since 2000. Gaurav Shah was promoted from project engineer to project manager. Shah has been with Roel since 1998. They work out of the Irvine office.

EDUCATION

The Santa Ana Education Foundation added California Sen. Joseph Dunn (D-Garden Grove) and Dr. Jo Ellen Allen, director of public affairs for the southern region of the Southern California Edison Co., to its board.

ENGINEERING

Ian Adam joined Irvine-based Fuscoe Engin-eering Inc. as senior environmental scientist. Adam will work in Fuscoe’s watershed management division.

FINANCE

Allan Lubitz joined Irvine-based Option One Mortgage Corp., a unit of H & R; Block Inc., as chief information officer. He previously worked as a technology consultant and served as chief information officer of Costa Mesa-based Ditech.com, a unit of GMAC Mortgage Corp.

Ernst & Young LLP appointed Jackie Brya and Trahan Whitten as partners. Brya is a member of the assurance advisory business services practice, and Whitten is the geographic leader of the health sciences practice. Both will work out of the firm’s Irvine office.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Diane Thomas, leader of the health and welfare benefits consulting practice of Towers Perrin, was named a principal. Thomas, who has been with the company since 1994, is based out of its Irvine office.

LAW

Gregory M. Carpenter joined the Irvine office of Snell & Wilmer LLP as an attorney in its commercial finance and real estate practice.

NONPROFIT

The Ocean Institute, which educates students through marine programs, appointed Sherman U. Smith, president and chief executive of Irvine-based Chambers Group Inc., to its board.

Irvine-based The Mind Institute named FileNet Corp. founder Ted Smith chairman of the board. The Mind Institute, short for Music Intelligence Neural Development Institute, helps kids learn mathematics through music.

The Association for Corporate Growth, Orange County Chapter, appointed Michael Stockwell to its board. Stockwell, chief operating officer of Irvine-based Benefit Partners, an employee benefits consulting firm, will serve for three years.
