Cook Inc., a medical device maker, said Thursday that a federal court found that it didn’t infringe on patents held by Irvine-based Edwards Lifesciences Corp.
Cook, a private company out of Bloomington, Ind., said that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted a summary judgment in its favor.
Edwards had alleged patent infringement on four of Cook’s Zenith endovascular stent-grafts used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms and thoracic aortic aneurysms, or ballooning blood vessels.
An Edwards spokeswoman told Reuters that the heart device company was evaluating the ruling and that it thinks there are grounds for appeal.
