Archer Gets Overair’s Patents, Key Employees

Archer sees growing defense demand

Archer Aviation, which is developing vertical-takeoff-and-landing military aircraft, said today it has acquired a patent portfolio and hired critical employees from Overair, the Santa Ana flying taxi company that has ceased operations.

Archer said the move will help meet “growing demand from major allied defense programs worldwide.”

Overair was a spin-off of Karem Aircraft of Lake Forest. Karem Aircraft has developed and manufactured advanced fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft focused on the use of high-efficiency tiltrotors.

San Jose-based Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR), which is also the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Summer Olympics, has expanded its California footprint to Orange County. OC  will serve as a “critical visitor hub” as the firm transports passengers to LA28 venues across the region.
