LETTERS

KOCE

I am writing this letter to express my strong support for KOCE-TV under its current ownership and share my deep concern over the prospect of losing this indispensable community asset.

Since moving to Southern California 13 years ago, the station has been a valued provider of local news, information, education, PBS programs and other services relevant to Orange County and the rest of Southern California to my family.

KOCE also has launched a spectacular 24/7 high-definition television channel. Thanks to the new ownership, KOCE also has begun rolling out a more comprehensive local news and information service to better cover the many OC issues ignored by L.A.-based media.

My family and I are regular viewers and supporters of KOCE. Having recently learned of the court’s decision overturning the sale of the station we’re very concerned that the loss of this very valuable community asset will have a significant, wide-ranging, negative impact on Orange County.

KOCE is the only television provider of local news in the county as well as local originated community programming, educational programming and, of course, the PBS program lineup.

If through their best efforts the trustees of the Coast Community College District are unable to persuade the courts of the validity of their sale transaction, we urge them to pursue an arrangement whereby the KOCE Foundation will continue to manage and program the station.

Fed Up

It’s obvious neither political party is remotely interested in controlling the continued flow of illegal immigration. World War III rages on while people in the elite media and elsewhere criticize and hamper our progress.

How much time was taken up by our Washington leaders fighting over Terri Schiavo’s “profoundly atrophied” brain?

Every week the chairman of the Democratic Party, “Gomer” Dean, spends his energy badmouthing Republicans. The Democrats have offered very little in the way of alternatives for any existing policy, other than to ask for increased taxes and for the removal of troops from Iraq.

It burns me to see our government seemingly shut down over “non-issues,” and it happens all too often.
