Zerza currently serves as chief commercial officer of Activision Blizzard and chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment.
The company said Zerza will assume his new role at some point in the second quarter, following the retirement of current CFO Dennis Durkin.
Santa Monica-based Activision also said it is on track to exceed its prior outlook for the current three-month period, and will release earnings results on May 4.
Shares in Activision Blizzard closed up 1.75% at $94.02 apiece for a market cap of $72.8 billion.
