The S&P 500 rose 0.28% to 1,671 in afternoon trading Tuesday.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.36% to 15,390.79, while the Nasdaq was up 0.27% to 3,505.91.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was off 1.53% to 1.94%.

The price of gold fell 0.65% to $1,375.10 per ounce.


Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. rose about 3% to $4.40 for a market value of $394.61 million.

KeyBanc Capital Markets raised Wet Seal's rating from "hold" to "buy.” The company's stock is up 53.4% so far this year since Chief Executive John Goodman took the helm of the teen and contemporary retailer.


Irvine disk drive maker Western Digital Corp. was up about 2% to $60.45 for a market value of $14.29 billion. Lazard Capital has a “buy” rating on the stock and raised its price target from $58 to $68. TheStreet Ratings also reiterated its "buy" rating on Western Digital.
