The S&P 500 was up 0.02% to 1,521 in afternoon trading Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.12% to 13,966, while the Nasdaq was up 0.04% to 3,198.

The yield on a 10-year treasury bond rose 0.10% to 2.02%.

The price of gold was off 0.57% to $1,636 per ounce.

Shares of Santa Ana technology products distributor Ingram Micro Inc. were up about 8% to $20 for a market value of approximately $3 billion. The company reported record revenue and better-than-expected profit in the fourth quarter on Wednesday.

Mission Viejo-based nursing home operator The Ensign Group Inc. was up about 5% to $31, a day after reporting better-than-expected guidance for the current year. Ensign had a recent market value of about $663.3 million.

Shares of Tustin drug developer Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc. rose about 14% to $2 for a market value of $253.2 million. The company announced results on Wednesday of a phase two clinical trial for its bavituximab cancer drug candidate that showed signs of anti-tumor activity in patients with pancreatic cancer.
