Shares of Irvine-based healthcare software maker Quality Systems Inc. rose about 6% to $19 for a recent market cap of $1 billion.
Aliso Viejo-based drug maker Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. was up about 5% to $3. Avanir had a market value of about $467 million.
Shares of Costa Mesa-based Emulex Corp. rose about 5% to $8 for a recent market cap of $695 million.
