The Federal Trade Commission has cleared Orange-based St. Joseph Health and Newport Beach-based Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian’s plan to create an integrated regional healthcare network.

Hoag and St. Joseph’s now plan to submit the plan to state Attorney General Kamala Harris’ office by the end of September, said Darrin Montalvo, a St. Joseph executive vice president, in a recent video interview with Modern Healthcare.

St. Joseph and Hoag last month announced plans to work together to build the network in a bid to provide more coordination in healthcare services. The yet-unnamed Hoag-St. Joseph collaboration will create a nonprofit corporation with its own board.

Hoag and St. Joseph officials have said each system will retain its existing identity and faith affiliation.

St. Joseph is a Catholic system while Hoag is affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
