SBA Gives $2.1M to Mihaylo School

California State University, Fullerton’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics has received $2.1 million from the U.S. Small Business Administration to fund the small-business development centers across Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The Mihaylo School has been managing the development-center network since 2003. The network counts six service centers across the region, including offices in Fullerton, Santa Ana and Palm Springs.

Two centers that were added this year—TriTech in Riverside and LaunchPad in Aliso Viejo—are focused specifically on venture capital.

The development centers provide consulting and training services, as well as technical aid and access to capital, to small businesses that have fewer than 500 employees.

Clients of the development-center network collectively created 646 new jobs and saw a $24 million increase in sales last year. They have created 268 jobs so far this year and boosted sales by $18 million.
