Private Equity Firm Taps Ex-NBA PlayerWednesday, December 12, 2012
Anaheim Hills-based financial services firm Metrix Capital Group LLC has tapped former National Basketball Association player Corey Crowder to boost its business development front.
Crowder has spent 14 years in professional basketball, including stints with the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs. He has been serving as an executive coach to various companies after retiring from basketball.
"He will be focused on the southeastern region of the United States where he is located," said Metrix Capital spokesman Aaron Wendt.
Metrix Capital provides private equity, equipment financing and other lending products customized for professional athletes. The firm is headed by Jeff Brannon, former chief executive of Laguna Hills-based lender Strada Capital Corp. and former minor league baseball player in the Atlanta Braves.
Metrix Capital does not disclose its assets under management, but Brannon said the firm has four Orange County-based companies in its equity portfolio. The companies are in either the pre-revenue or early stages of generating revenue, he said.
