The Nasdaq was down 0.34% in midday trading Friday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.23% to 13,134.97.

The S&P 500 was off 0.23% to 1,399.58.

The yield on a 10-year treasury bond fell 2.01% to 1.65%.

The price of gold was up 0.23% to $1,624.

Shares of Costa Mesa-based Emulex Corp. were down 8.45% to $6.50 a day after the networking equipment maker provided sales and profit guidance for the September quarter that fell short of Wall Street analyst expectations. Emulex had a recent market value of $564 million.

Newport Beach-based Acacia Research Corp. was down 6.22% to $25.04. The patent licensing company had a market value of about $1 billion.

Shares of Irvine-based Pro-Dex Inc. fell 11.22% to $1.50. Pro-Dex, which makes medical devices and provides manufacturing services for the medical, dental and other industries, had a recent market value of $5 million.
