The Nasdaq was down 2.43% to 2,937.09 in midday trading, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.31% to 13,049.5840.90.

The S&P 500 was up 0.25% to 1,382.69995.

The yield on a 10-year bond was up 1.47% to 1.51%.

The price of gold fell 0.43% to $1,607.60 per ounce.

Irvine-based drug maker Allergan Inc. shares surged 6% in early trading after the drug maker posted a second-quarter profit that exceeded Wall Street’s expectations and raised its guidance on full-year earnings.

Shares of Santa Ana-based circuit board maker TTM Technologies Inc. were down 15%, to a market value of about $757 million. The drop came after TTM missed expectations on revenue and earnings for the second quarter and trimmed its outlook for the current period.
