Cypress-based swimsuit maker Manhattan Beachwear LLC has acquired a Los Angeles counterpart after being bought itself by a private equity firm earlier this year.
Manhattan Beachwear bought Los Angeles-based Apparel Ventures Inc. for undisclosed terms.
Both companies make swimsuits.
Manhattan Beachwear makes women’s swimsuits under license from brands such as Kenneth Cole, Hermanny by Vix, Sofia by Vix, Hobie and Split. It also makes its own brands, 24th & Ocean and Maxine, and makes swimsuits for retailers.
Apparel Ventures makes swimsuits under its own La Blanca and 2 Bamboo labels and under licensed brands Ralph Lauren, Trina Turk, ABS, Puma and Rampage.
Allan Colvin, chief executive officer of Manhattan Beachwear, is set to lead the combined company.
In January, Cleveland-based Linsalata Capital Partners Inc. acquired a majority of Manhattan Beachwear for an estimated $20 million to $50 million.
At the time, Linsalata said it was looking to expand Manhattan Beachwear with acquisitions.
Manhattan Beachwear had yearly sales of $65 million before the Apparel Ventures buy.
