OCBJ 2013 Family-Owned Business Awards Nomination Form

The Orange County Business Journal is proud to announce the Fourteenth Annual FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS AWARDS. Family operations are a powerful economic force, accounting for 50 percent of the gross domestic product. Family firms represent the full spectrum of American companies, from small businesses to large corporations – 35 percent of Fortune 500 companies are family companies! Family businesses are responsible for 60 percent of the nation’s employment and 78 percent of new jobs created (www.gaebler.com, 7/18/2011).


The FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS AWARDSis the perfect opportunity to recognize clients, colleagues and friends whose Orange County-based family owned firms have distinguished themselves via their business accomplishments and contributions to the local community. Self-nominations are encouraged.

NOMINATION PROCESS

  • OBTAIN THE NOMINEE’S CONSENT to participate in this awards program.
  • Confirm that 2 OR MORE FAMILY MEMBERS are actively involved in running the business.
  • ALL SECTIONS of the nomination form must be completed for consideration by the selection committee (complete online, or submit PDF form via e-mail or fax).
  • DESCRIBE business accomplishments that illustrate the company as award-worthy.
  • DESCRIBE the family’s professional and community involvement.
  • UPLOAD a full-color, high-resolution digital photo of family members involved in the firm.
  • UPLOAD supporting materials (letters of recommendation, copies of news articles, etc.) or email materials to Jayne Kennedy at kennedy@ocbj.com.
  • SUBMIT nomination form, digital family photo, and supporting materials by 12:00 p.m. (Noon, Pacific) Friday, Sept. 20, 2013.

• Large Business Award (more than 150 employees)     • Up & Coming Award*     • Longevity Award*
(*Candidacy for the Up & Coming Award and the Longevity Award is determined by the selection committee.)
