The S&P 500 declined 0.02% to 1,936.14 in midday trading Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.10% to 16,759.33, while the Nasdaq was up 0.07% to 4,313.60.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was unchanged at 2.60%.
The price of gold was up 0.12% to $1,275.60.
HEALTHCARE
Foothill Ranch-based Skilled Healthcare Group Inc. was up 2.85% to $6.86 to a market cap of $272.12 million on sector strength and higher than average trading. By midday the owner-operator of nursing and assisted-living facilities had traded 225,000 shares, versus a recent full-day average of about 150,000.
Sector mates Care Trust REIT Inc. and The Ensign Group Inc.—both in Mission Viejo and until recently part of the same company—also were up. Care Trust rose 2.2% to $17.63 while Ensign was up 1% to $28.79. Care Trust owns and Ensign Group operates assisted living facilities.
TECHNOLOGY
Costa Mesa-based networking company Emulex Corp. was up 1% to $5.50. The company said Monday its product had been deployed by a large research and education group in New Zealand.
