Midday Stock Roundup

Indexes were higher in midday trading on a meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee and resumption of trade talks with China.

The S&P 500 was up 1.1% at 2,920.57; the Dow Jones Industrial Average 1.4% to 26,469.32; the Nasdaq 1.6% to 7.971.03.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond declined 1.1% to 2.06%.

The price of gold rose 0.6% to $1,351.

The price of oil jumped 3.5% to $53.77 a barrel.

TECHNOLOGY

Chipmaker Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) of Irvine rose 4.3% to $75.57 for a market cap of $13 billion after Reuters reported that U.S. chipmakers are quietly lobbying the U.S. government to ease its ban on Chinese company Huawei.

HEALTHCARE

San-Clemente-based ophthalmic medical device maker Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) rose 2.7% to $77.28 with a market cap of $2.8 billion. The consensus rating on the stock is “Buy,” MarketBeat reported today.
