CivilSource, Inc. in Irvine has been bought by NV5 Global Inc. in Hollywood, Fla., for an undisclosed cash price.
CivilSource designs public roads and highways, and wastewater and flood control projects. It’s projected to have about $11 million in revenue in 2017; the acquisition will be immediately accretive to NV5’s earnings, the buyer said.
NV5 Global is an engineering consultant to energy, construction, real estate, and environmental clients. It earned about $14 million on revenue of about $155 million last year, and traded recently at a $382 million market cap.
CivilSource clients are concentrated in Orange and Los Angeles Counties—areas NV5 Global has targeted for expansion. The combined company is expected to integrate design and engineering services for clients and tap into the industries that each had been strong in.
Recent national discussion of more money being available for large projects are also part of the strategy.
“CivilSource expands our opportunity to assist municipalities as they begin to receive much needed infrastructure support from federal and state funded agencies,” said Dickerson Wright, NV5 chairman and chief executive.
Amy Amirani, a former public works director for the cities of San Juan Capistrano and Hermosa Beach, founded CivilSource in 2006.
