House of Blues Anaheim owner Live Nation Entertainment Inc. lists a May 31 closing date for the Downtown Disney venue in a filing with the California Employment Department.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) by Beverly Hills-based Live Nation is a “permanent closure” affecting 300 mostly part-time workers, but a House of Blues spokesman said its new home at Anaheim GardenWalk plans to keep its current roster and add 100 positions.
“All those folks will be coming to the new House of Blues,” if they want to, he said. “Everybody keeps their jobs.”
House of Blues is exiting its current 23,000 square feet at Downtown Disney for 40,000 square feet at GardenWalk.
That property at Katella Avenue and the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway is repositioning its offerings to include more food and entertainment, with the House of Blues as an anchor.
The House of Blues spokesman said a “late summer” opening for the new venue is currently anticipated but declined to give a precise date.
LiveNation also operates Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, which is closing after its current season.
