John Wayne Airport had nearly 950,000 passengers in May—up 13% compared with the same month last year, when about 840,000 passengers passed through its gates.
Commercial flights topped 4,000 in the same month—up nearly 20% from last May’s 3,339.
International passenger counts were up 76% and flights up 54% year-over-year in May: more than 43,000 fliers took 190 flights in the month.
The three airlines in May with the highest passenger totals were Southwest with more than 447,000; American with nearly 142,000, and United with about 117,000.
The three airlines combined to carry about 707,000 passengers in May—74% of the total for the month.
