The Dow Jones Industrial average was off 0.4% to 34,952.41, while the Nasdaq was down 0.6% to 14,692.63.
Crude oil rose 0.5% to $73.99.
Gold fell 0.8% to $1,821.10.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury decreased 3% to 1.23%.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine advertising software maker Viant Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: DSP) climbed 11.5% to $17.81 after Bank of America upgraded the company’s stock from neutral to buy. Viant had a recent market cap of $1.1 billion.
Chipmaker Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) fell 7.1% to $182.89 for a market cap of $29.8 billion. The Irvine-based company on Thursday reported results for the three months through June 30, that edged past consensus estimates for the quarter. Skyworks stock has climbed about 21% since the start of the year.
