The S&P 500 rose 0.21% to 2,002.10 in midday trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.29% to 17,126.47 and the Nasdaq rose 0.32% to 4,571.82.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.17% to 2.39%.
The price of gold was up 0.48% to $1,285.10.
APPAREL
Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. is up 15% to $1.06 and a market capitalization of $90 million. The International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs Weekly Chain Store Sales Index rose 4.2% last week compared to same period in 2013. The ICSC said August sales overall would be 4% to 5% higher this year, greater than the 3.6% gain last August.
EDUCATION
Santa Ana-based Corinthian Colleges Inc. is down 5.5% to $0.15 and a market cap of $13.7 million. The company agreed to sell some assets but one sale was blocked by a federal agency. Separately a California veterans agency said it wouldn’t provide GI Bill funding for students to attend the company’s schools in the state.
