Major indexes rose ahead of an expected interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve.

The S&P; 500 climbed 1.3% to 4,316.56 while the Dow 30 was up 0.9% to 33,846.36 and the Nasdaq jumped 2.2% to 13,227.71.

Crude oil increased 0.1% to $96.57 a barrel.

Gold was off 1% to $1,910 an ounce.

The yield on the 10-year bond rose 1.065% to 2.183%.

MEDICAL DEVICES

Staar Surgical Co. (Nasdaq: STAA) jumped 9.2% to $65 and a $3.1 billion market cap. The stock is still off about 60% from its 52-week high around $163 last November.

HEALTH CLUBS

Xponential Fitness Inc. (NYSE: XPOF) increased 6.3% to $22.25 and a $2.1 billion market cap. Chief Executive Anthony Geisler and other executives at the chain of gymnasiums have been speaking with investors for the past two days at the 34th annual Roth Conference being held at the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point.
