Orange County nail salons, tattoo parlors and other personal service providers will be allowed to reopen their doors Friday.
The news was confirmed by the Orange County Health Care Agency at a press conference Thursday and applies to nail salons, tattoo and piercing studios, estheticians, cosmetology services and body waxing. The latest lift on restrictions comes after roughly three months of closures since the state’s stay-at-home order on March 19.
Businesses that plan to open under this latest lift on restrictions are required to follow a number of health and safety guidelines issued by the state, which can be found here. They’ll also be required to file attestations and post that publicly.
Businesses such as nail salons received “unfair attacks throughout the process” of the stay-at-home order and subsequent phased reopening of the state, Orange County Board of Supervisors Chair Michelle Steel said during a Thursday press conference. She added that 80% of nail salons in California are owned by Vietnamese Americans.
“I am delighted that starting tomorrow these nail salons can finally open their doors,” Steel said. “It has been far too long and these businesses have suffered as a result.”
