Architecture Design Collaborative in January will move its headquarters from Costa Mesa into a building it bought in Laguna Hills with plans to hire 10 to 15 architects and related staff through the first quarter of 2017.
ADC paid $1.2 million for a 4,500 square-foot building at 23231 S. Pointe Drive. The firm currently employs 25, of which seven are architects, and plans to eventually have about 45 staffers in the new digs.
Craig Chinn, a principal in the firm, said the move works well for current and prospective employees.
“A new office will not only offer more jobs for architects but also make the commute much easier for folks who live down South,” Chinn said.
Architecture Design Collaborative reported $3 million in local billings year-to-date through October and expects to hit about $4.2 million by year-end. OC brings in about two-thirds of ADC billings; it also has an office in Denver.
About 90% of its work is in retail and residential design, for clients that include real estate fund manager CIM Group in Los Angeles, multifamily developer Trammell Crow Residential in Dallas, and mall owner-operator General Growth Properties in Chicago.
