MIND Names CEO

The board of Irvine-based MIND Research Institute named Brett Woudenberg chief executive to replace co-founder Matthew Peterson, who’ll focus on innovation as the organization’s chief research and development officer.

Woudenberg most recently served as MIND’s chief operating officer, leading interdisciplinary teams to increase student and teacher access to programs and services.

MIND’s visual math program helps more than a million students and 44,000 teachers, according to the organization.

During Peterson’s three-year tenure as chief executive, MIND said it doubled the number of students it works with in the classroom.

Prior to MIND, Woudenberg served as chief operating officer of Austin, Texas-based Macmillan Learning. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Grand Valley State University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts.

MIND Research Institute programs apply neuroscience to math education.
