Indices were up in midday trading as oil prices rebounded.
The S&P 500 was up 1.6% to 1,921.36. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.5% to 16,391.99. The Nasdaq was up 1.9% to 4,612.66.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 2.2% to 2.11%.
The price of gold was down 1.3% to $1,073.
TECHNOLOGY
Aliso Viejo-based Microsemi Corp. was up 4% to $32.22 and a $3.1 billion market cap. SunTrust Robinson Humphrey initiated coverage on the semiconductor maker’s shares with a “buy” rating.
HEALTHCARE
Mission Viejo-based CareTrust REIT was up 2% to $10.44 and a $503 million market cap. BMO Capital initiated coverage on the health facility owner’s shares with an “outperform” rating.
RESTAURANTS
Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco was up another 6.7% to $13.42 and a $514 million market cap after an analyst set a $17 price target yesterday and upgraded the fast food company’s shares. The stock has risen 11% in two days.
RETAIL
Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. was down 14.4% to 17 cents and a $12 million market cap on high volume.
