Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was flat at 2,267.30.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.2% to 19,779.37.

The NASDAQ was flat at 5,539.99.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 2.8% to 2.39%.

The price of gold was up 0.1% to $1,216.

TECHNOLOGY

Western Digital Corp. in Irvine was up 1.8% to $72.89 and a $21 billion market cap. News reports said the storage products maker could bid on 20% of Toshiba Corp.’s flash memory business, a stake valued at $1.8 billion to $2.6 billion. The two firms co-operate a flash memory manufacturing plant in Yokkaichi, Japan.

MANUFACTURING

Kaiser Aluminum Corp. was up 2.8% to $81.04 and a $1.5 billion market cap. The metals manufacturer traded a moderate number of shares by midday compared with its 90-day average volume after its board said it would hike its quarterly dividend 11% to 50 cents a share.
