Midday Stock Roundup

Major stock indexes rose as the threat of war in Ukraine appeared to recede.

The S&P; 500 rose 1.1% to 4,451.11 during midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 1.1% to 34,939.50.

The Nasdaq was up 1.7% to 14,021.57.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond jumped 2.1% to 2.038%.

The price of gold fell almost 1% to $1,851.50.

The price for a barrel of oil decreased 3.7% to $91.98.

AUTOMOTIVE

Electric vehicle maker Rivian Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) in Irvine rose 5.4% to $66 apiece for a market cap of $58.3 billion. Electric vehicle shares have been rising on the visibility the companies received during the Super Bowl on Sunday, according to Yahoo Finance. Shares in Romeo Power Inc. (NYSE: RMO), which is developing batteries for EVs, were up 9.7% to $2.20 apiece for a market cap of $296 million.

TECHNOLOGY 

Digital ad software company Viant Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: DSP) rose 5.7%, with its shares trading at $8.37 apiece for a market cap of $507 million. Despite today’s rise, the stock has lost about 87% of its value over the last year.
