IBM Completes Telelogic Buy

IBM Corp. has completed its acquisition of Sweden’s Telelogic AB, a software maker that has its U.S. headquarters in Irvine.

The acquisition took longer than expected because IBM faced some regulatory hurdles with the European Commission.

IBM first announced the $750 million deal in June.

Antitrust concerns arose in October when regulators said the deal may violate European Union competition rules.

A formal investigation was launched.

But the EU found last month that “no other antitrust clearances are required” and gave IBM the green light.

Telelogic makes software that helps businesses speed up their own product and software development.

It counts yearly sales of about $200 million to customers such as Boeing Co., General Motors Corp. and Sprint Nextel Corp.

The company’s Telelogic North America Inc. unit is based in the Irvine Spectrum, where it has about 85 workers.
