Service Champions Group, a Brea-based provider of heating and air conditioning services, again expanded in the Phoenix area by acquiring two more companies.

Howard Air in Phoenix is a second-generation, family-owned business founded in 1977 by William Howard and currently operated by his son Kevin Howard. Scottsdale Air, which began in 1947, is owned by Michael Cross, who took over in 1989 after beginning as an apprentice in 1986.
In the past year, Service Champions acquired Hobaica and ProSkill Services, enabling the company to quadruple its capabilities in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Smith in 2000 began Service Champions, which has approximately $400 million in annual sales and 1,200 employees. Smith said his goal is to reach $1 billion in annual sales.
