Brea-based CoolSys, a provider of HVAC services around the country, has appointed Anesa Chaibi as the company's next chief executive, replacing Adam Coffey who will serve as senior adviser to its board of directors.
Chaibi was CEO from 2005 to 2015 of HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, at one time a unit of Home Depot, to provide maintenance and repairs for apartments and institutional property owners. She grew revenue and EBITDA from approximately $840 million and $90 million, respectively, to $2.5 billion and nearly $500 million, over the span of a decade, CoolSys said.
“We have known Anesa for several years and believe her experience scaling services-based organizations well positions her to support CoolSys’ business, strong culture focused on employee development and customer service, and robust growth goals,” said Matt Cwiertnia, chairman of the board of CoolSys and Co-Head of Ares Management’s Private Equity Group, which bought CoolSys in 2019.
After Coffey took over in 2016, he rebranded the company with a new name and began an acquisition strategy with the goal of a $2 billion enterprise value with annual sales of $1.1 billion by 2023.
CoolSys, which installs and maintains refrigeration and heating systems for companies like Costco and Starbucks,  reported $630 million for the trailing 12 months ended June 30, good for No. 9 on the Business Journal’s most recent annual list of the fastest-growing private companies.
