Shares of Irvine-based Rivian Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN), which went public Wednesday, surged 23% to $123.40 per share for a $121 billion market cap. The electric vehicle maker was valued at $93 billion, surpassing both Ford and General Motors, in the largest IPO since 2014.


Aliso Viejo's indie Semiconductor Inc. (Nasaq: INDI) jumped 10% to $13.78 per share for a $1.9 billion market cap. The auto-focused tech firm yesterday reported third-quarter sales rose 60%, exceeding analysts’ expectations. Its shares have risen nearly 20% in the last month.
