Major U.S. indices were up on Friday for a second day of gains after declines at the beginning of the week.
The S&P 500 was up 1.3% to 4,167.64 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.9% to 34,329.26, while the Nasdaq increased 2% to 13,393.25.
Crude oil was up 2.1% to $65.14.
Gold rose 0.8% to $1,838.90.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury was off 1.4% to 1.64%.
Viant Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: DSP) jumped 12% to $26.99, a day after reporting first quarter results and raising its full-year guidance on a better-than-expected start to the year. The Irvine ad tech company had a recent market cap of $1.6 billion.
Montrose Environmental Group (NYSE: MEG) rose 4.8% to $52.47 after closing down on Thursday. The Irvine provider of water treatment, consulting and other environmental services missed analyst projections on net income when it reported first quarter results earlier this week. The company had a recent market cap of $1.4 billion.
