The S&P 500 rose 0.2% to 4,180.52 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.3% to 34,136.69, while the Nasdaq was about flat at 14,042.15.
Crude oil was down 0.4% to $63.21.
Gold was up 0.6% to $1,778.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury increased 3.6% to 1.59%.
Irvine medical device maker Inari Medical Inc. (Nasdaq: NARI) fell 4.5% to $103.94 for a market cap of $5.1 billion. The company is up about 23% since the start of the year.
Tustin-based Avid Bioservices Inc. (Nasdaq: CDMO) was off 3.4% to $18.81 for a market cap of $1.1 billion. The contract drug maker on Thursday said it capped the redemption of its Series E convertible preferred stock this week.
