The S&P 500 was down 0.2% to 3,333.44 in midday trading Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3% to 27,620.85, while the Nasdaq fell 0.9% to 10,816.86.

Crude oil was up 0.4% to $37.43.

Gold was down 0.4% to $1,957.30.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was off 2% to 0.67%.

RESTAURANTS

The S&P 600 Restaurants Index dropped 4.7% to 1,347.77.

Huntington Beach restaurant operator BJ’s Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: BJRI) led with the greatest decline among OC restaurants. The company slipped 8.1% to $33.92 for a market cap of $775.8 million. BJ’s earlier this week said pay reductions it enacted in April to reduce costs in response to the pandemic would end, with several employees awarded fully-vested stock grants Thursday to offset the temporary salary reductions.

Elsewhere, Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LOCO) fell 7.1% to $16.28 for a market cap of $597 million. Del Taco Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: TACO) of Lake Forest was down 5.8% to $7.98 for a market cap of $300.4 million. Newport Beach-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) was off 2.3%to $1,275.66 for a market cap of $35.8 billion.

TECHNOLOGY

Irvine-based Lantronix Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRX) was down 9.1% to $4.13 for a market cap of $120.8 million. The computer networking products company on Thursday reported results for its fiscal fourth quarter ended June 30 and said it expects net revenue to be in the range of flat to slightly up in the current quarter.
